Water falling over cliffs

Day 81 - Avoca Beach. It has been pointed out to me, somewhat unfairly I believe, that I don't have a lot of birds on the website and that maybe I should pick up my binoculars, get off my arse and find some more. You should all know that if I dont see the birds on a golf course or they don't have the good manners to present themselves at my campsite they won't be showing up on my website. I just added another 16 birds that met the above criteria.

In the country you will see a lot of golf players transporting their golf carts in a box trailer to and from the golf course. Normally they have a little set of ramps that they use to drive the cart on and off the box trailer. What do you do if you forget your ramps? I recently saw a golfer faced with this problem and he had a simple solution, which was to drive the golf cart off the trailer without the ramps. It works! I am not sure how much damage it did and I have no idea how he got it back onto the trailer.

Dorrigo Golf Club, there I was at 8:45 am on Saturday, drizzle, very low cloud and very limited visibility indicated that golf was probably unlikely. I introduced myself to the locals and asked them for what they thought the chances of playing were, the consensus was that it would be ok, who was I to argue. Whilst chatting to one of the locals I discovered that Dorrigo has an average annual rainfall of 2 metres or 80 inches in the old money, they once had 30 inches in a day, so I guess the little bit of drizzle wasn't going to worry them. The course is a wonderful 9 holes of golf (with 18 tees) that I enjoyed very much, I was lucky enough to place 3rd in a field of 11. Yes they are doing it tough and volunteers do all the work, the state of the course indicates they should be very proud of what they have achieved. If you are up that way do yourself and the club a favour and have a game, they can use all the support that you may be able to give them.
