Into the depths of Victoria

Day 99 - Terang. The weather continues to be bad, a storm warning was issued for the Gippsland, right in the area where this little black duck was currently camped. The rain was unbelievable and the winds were 100 kms+. Snuggled up in my little tent I could hear the branches and trees falling around me, watch the rain slowly but surely creeping into the tent, listen to the guy ropes snapping in the high wind and generally having a miserable time. Of course thats all bullshit, as soon as I heard the storm warnings on the radio, I did what any sensible person would do and booked into a pub that had a three star restaurant.
Whilst staying in Orbost, I went on a scenic drive through the high country. It was only 200 odd kilometres but it took the most part of a day, a fully loaded X-Trail doesn't like hills and sharp corners so I was forced to change gears at least a godzillion times. The scenery was amazing as were the roads, which in some places are only wide enough for 1 vehicle. If you met one coming the other way one of you had to back up to a spot were you could pass one another. I am not real flash with heights, there may have been some amazing views, but a quick glimpse warned me that if I didn't keep my eyes on the road I would succumb to an attack of vertigo and meet an untimely death tumbling down a 300 metre cliff. Having said all that it was a very enjoyable day and no I didn't run into Clancy of the Overflow or Harrison who made his pile when Pardon won the cup or the man from Ironbark for that matter. See the pictures below.
