Lounging around the Clare Valley

Day 142 - Wellington (SA). Spent this week lounging around in the Southern Flinders Ranges and the Clare Valley, it really is a wonderful part of South Australia as I was lounging there wasn't a gret deal to report, so I am using this post to catch up on some things that I have for various reasons omitted in the past, first of the above is a picture of September Beach in Lincoln National Park. It was a very hot day when I arrived at September Beach and as you can see I had it practically all to myself. By comparison when I camped at Coffin Bay, not all that far from the above, I was accompanied by hoardes of holiday makers even though the Coffin Bay campsite had no beach and was by comparison crappy, there is no accounting for taste.

I have visited many museums on my travels and I am beginning to become an expert on vintage tractors, ploughs and other agriculture equipment. What is particularly gauling is the fact that I remember seeing some of the machinery they have being used, I have complained to some of the museums, that I am not old and that surely some of these things shouldn't yet be in museums. The joys of growing old I guess.

At one of the museums there was a display on horse drawn implements with photos, illustrations and descriptions etc. The horse teams were ususally made up of 6 to 7 horses, apparently one of the problems was that the horses would occasionally bolt causing all sorts of problems. One the panels had a little story on it where an old bloke was asked if any of his horses were hurt when they bolted, to which he replied "Only the ones I could catch".

Sunrise at Fitzgeralds Bay.
Sunset at Mount Remarkable National Park, looking towards Spencer Gulf.
