A very pretty double wedding was celebrated , on 14th May in the Research Church Hall. The happy couples were Miss May Norman, of Research, and Mr. C. Innes, of Glenorchy, formerly of England; Miss Dorothy Willet, recent arrival from England, and Mr. A. Bowls, of Glenorchy, also formerly of England. The officiating clergyman was the Rev Peck, of Eltham. The bridesmaids were Miss Ethel Davey and the Misses Margaret and Ivy Reynolds. Mr. Norman Stewart was best man for Mr. Innes and Mr. E. Lake for Mr. Bowls. Both brides wore ceresse. of ivory georgette, with silver trimmings, and carried bouquets of white flowers. The Bridesmaids also wore ivory georgette, and carried bouquets of pink flowers.
Miss Norman and Mr. Innes were very popular in Research, and took a lively interest in all social events. They were also well-known in tennis circles and both played excellently in the Eltham Tennis Association tournaments. Miss Willet and Mr. Bowls were practically strangers to Research, but interest was not lacking on that account. Miss Willet proved her mettle by travelling 16,000 miles to a strange land to marry the man of her, choice, truly the spirit of our fore fathers, which is as strong to-day as ever.
As the wedding party left the hall, they passed through an archway formed by the members of 'the Eltham Tennis Association with their racquets. The wedding party and invited guests assembled at the residence of Mrs. Davey, and sat down to the very excellent breakfast provided. A very nice programme of singing, dancing, games, etc., was arranged for the evening.. This -was successfully carried out, and thoroughly enjoyed by the guests present. All the good wishes possible for a happy and prosperous future go with the young couples to their home at Glenorchy.
